With summer being almost over, we can all look forward to hiding our flabby stomachs underneath layers of clothing. What we can hide from is the reality that obesity and being over weight are both linked to numerous health concerns. What type of health issues? To start off with, the list includes illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes.

Did I scare you yet? Well, worrying about serious medical illness can naturally be quite terrifying. On the other hand, taking action and steps to confront your fears can help to alleviate much of your anxiety. No, sitting on your couch and lifting spoons of icecream to your mouth is not quite what I had in mind.

Over the past two years, obesity rates in the U.S. have reached epidemic proportions.  Much of this could be due to changing dietary patterns as well as lifestyle choices.  Do you find that you spend more time watching your 60′ flat screen than you did when you had a small CRT TV?  Probably…
